Learn about the art of jewelry making with Wickenburg Art Club member Karen Douglass.
In her youth, Douglass was inspired by the artists and classes at the Phoenix Art Museum, then just a bungalow on Coronado Avenue. As a senior in high school, she won the Hallmart Scholastic Art competition, and her painting of football players was later included in their 25-year retrospective touring exhibition. Douglass attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles before spending time in Flagstaff and southern California as an interior designer. She moved back to Arizona to build and run Andora Crossing Bed and Breakfast in Cave Creek. She was represented by Galeria Bellas Artes and had the honor of participating in a two-man show with Sergio Ladron de Guevara.
About West of Center: The artistic talents of the Wickenburg community are highlighted in the 6th annual West of Center exhibition and sale. Curated by the Wickenburg Art Club, 100% of proceeds from sales benefit members of the Art Club, which offers year round opportunities for artists of all ages and experience levels to explore an array of creative pursuits. Free weekly demonstrations are held by WAC members in the Learning Center on Saturdays from 1 – 3 p.m. throughout the run of the show.
