Captain Robert Olds, U.S. Navy (Retired), former Commanding Officer of USS HASSAYAMPA, will speak about his experiences aboard the Navy ship that proudly carried the name of Wickenburg’s most famous river that he commanded during the Vietnam War. He will discuss the ship and her mission and what it was like to work and live aboard a floating “city”.
Captain Olds grew up in southern California and graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the Navy Reserve in 1951 while in college and served on active duty from 1953-1984 during the Cold War and Vietnam era.
