Executive Director Sandra Harris Departs from DCWM Post

September 11, 2017: Peter Schweitzer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum announced this week that the Board regretfully accepted the resignation of Sandra Harris as Executive Director. In Schweitzer’s announcement, he praised the successes achieved at the Museum during Harris’ tenure: “The Museum has expanded its professional staff, modernized its use of technology across departments and grown the membership and donor base to establish more long-term sustainability.”

6th Annual West of Center Exhibition and Sale

June 14, 2017: The Wickenburg Art Club takes over DCWM’s Cultural Crossroads Learning Center to curate and jury this annual exhibition and sale showcasing the artistic talents of the Wickenburg community. Diverse mediums including oil, photography, gourds, and bronzes reflect the diversity of experiences and perspectives that each member brings to the Art Club. Free artist demonstrations are held at the Museum on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. throughout the run of the show.

Summer Exhibitions at DCWM

May 22, 2017: Two new exhibitions, How the West Is One: Contemporary Western Art from the Tia Collection and Stormy Weather: Western Atmospheres both open at Desert Caballeros Western Museum on Saturday, May 27.

12th Annual Cowgirl Up! Exhibition and Sale at DCWM

March 28, 2017: The 12th annual Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West launched a successful opening weekend March 24 – 26, 2017, drawing collectors from across the country. The 51 artists and 1,000 + patrons who attended mingled and purchased artwork at the Friday evening Miniatures Sale and Cowgirl Roundup Street Dance, the Saturday evening Bash & Bid Gala and Live Auction, and the Sunday Morning Chuckwagon Breakfast and Artist Quick Draw. Over $300,000 in art sales will benefit the participating artists and the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.
