Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey

Whitefish, MT

“When I was studying in Paris at age 17, I took several oil paintings on the train to Frankfurt where my career officer father and family were living. When the pieces were stolen en route, I was both flattered and dismayed. Flattered that someone thought they were worthy of stealing and dismayed that I couldn’t show Mom and Dad that the college tuition was bearing fruit! It’s been a fun ride since. And what I know is that nothing I paint is too precious—the process is what intrigues and delights me as an artist—for the last 50 years. Vive la creativité.”
