Karen Petrovich | Wyoming

Karen lived in Cody, Wyoming for 30 years, then spent ten years in Arizona. She recently moved back to Wyoming. She has worked on Wyoming ranches and in hunting camps there and spent eleven years with the U.S. Forest Service as a back-country mounted ranger in law enforcement.

Karen’s art career started in 2003, and she credits artist Mike Poulsen of Cody for getting her to continue with it. She paints with oils and pastels. Karen is also an accomplished plein air artist and a few years ago, while painting at the Moab Plein Air event, she decided to try painting with a palette knife. She liked it so much that she has been painting with it ever since.

Karen has studied with William Scott Jennings, Skip Whitcomb, Phil Starke, and the late Joe Abbrescia. She is a member of the Women Artists of the West, Oil Painters of America, and the American Plains Artists. She is represented by The Frame Hut and Gallery in Billings, Montana.
