Arizona Water Pioneers

August 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Early settlers like Jack Swilling and Henry Wickenburg set their sights on discovering gold in Arizona, but left a second legacy, regarding another precious resource: water. Learn about the part the town of Wickenburg played in bringing water to the Salt River Valley of Arizona, which helped put central Arizona on the map. Stick around afterwards to enjoy a complimentary icy treat!

Sandra Hurlbut holds a Master’s in Energy & Environmental Studies from Boston University and a Master’s in Public Affairs from UMass – Boston. She has been a medical researcher for the Tufts – New England Medical Center; an Environmental Analyst at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection; and, more recently, an interpretive Park Ranger for City, County, State and National Parks. She is currently a team member of Arizona’s Project WET, an organization that advocates for water conservation and education in Maricopa County.

This event is free to the public. Museum admission is not required.
