Carson Thomas Lecture: The Life and Times of R. Farrington Elwell

Jan 16, 2026

Carson is “putting together a fact filled lecture that should be very educational and interesting and fun.” Farrington Elwell was a local artist in Wickenburg.

Join us on January 16th in the Cultural Crossroads Learning Center for “The Life and Times of R. Farrington Elwell”, a lively and engaging program presented by Carson Thomas, who is assembling a fact-filled lecture designed to be educational, interesting, and fun. Through stories, historical context, and visual references, the program offers a closer look at a creative figure whose work and life were closely tied to the character of Wickenburg.

R. Farrington Elwell was a local Wickenburg artist whose art reflected the people, places, and spirit of the community he called home. Working in a period when the town was evolving from a frontier settlement into a modern Western community, Elwell documented everyday life, landscapes, and local personalities with a distinctly personal point of view. His legacy provides valuable insight into Wickenburg’s cultural history, making this program both a celebration of local art and a deeper exploration of the town’s past.

Carson Thomas lecture, Friday, January 16 at 11 a.m. Cultural Crossroads Learning Center, (Corner of Tegner St and Wickenburg Way).

Lectures are included with paid museum admission; free for MEMBERS, and children 17 and under with an adult.
