Desert Delights in Watercolor
Live Demonstration at the DCWM's Learning Center
Join us for “Desert Delights in Watercolor,” a live Demonstration by Nancy Hill on September 20, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.:
“The desert is filled with so many wonders to see and sometimes we are lucky to catch a glimpse of life in that harsh world. I have chosen to share my watercolor impressions of the “Desert Cactus Wren”….a small but hardy little bird that is a desert dweller despite his “prickly” accommodations.
Come join me and see how I try to bring to life this small desert delight on 140# Arches Watercolor paper, with my palette of tube paints, assorted earth colors and few vibrant shades. I will be using some Ink also to enhance my painting. It’s a fun additive for the right subject and you will see the changes it makes to my impression of the Cactus Wren and it’s perch preference.
I love to watch the paint as it mixes with the water on the paper-sometimes not knowing what direction it will flow. Often the result is intended but just once in awhile the paint does it’s own thing with a different ending …….sometimes “magic” happens!……and other times it requires more patience and some different creative methods to correct.
Come and share my journey….see what can be done with water, some paint, a little Ink, an idea, and a bit of creative courage. Bring your notebook, your interest, and a friend. I’ll see you there!”
