The month of May kicks off with BearCat Family Friday presented by The Etnyre Foundation on May 2nd at 11 a.m. Families can enjoy activities for all ages in the CCLC until 3 p.m., including a hands-on project to create and take home a succulent pot and plant. Participants will be hand-painting a 4″ terracotta pot.
On Sunday, May 11, the Museum invites everyone to celebrate Mother’s Day. Beginning at 11 a.m., visitors can participate in a Hershey’s Kiss craft activity suitable for all ages in the Main Museum. As a special treat, mothers receive free admission all day. Activity is free with Museum admissions. Kids 17 and under are always free with an adult. AAA, senior and military discounts apply.
Starting Saturday, May 17, the Museum proudly participates in the Blue Star Museum national program, offering free admission through Labor Day for active-duty military personnel and their families.
Later in the month, two exciting evening receptions will take place. On Thursday, May 22, the Main Galleries will host the Cowgirl Up! Closing Reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m., free and open to the public. The following evening, Friday, May 23, the CCLC will celebrate the Students’ Exhibition: Soul of the Desert with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 25, is also the final day to view Cowgirl Up!, so be sure to catch it before it closes.
Please note that on Monday, May 26, the Museum and its stores will be closed all day in observance of Memorial Day.
On Saturday, May 24, Soul of the Desert officially opens in the CCLC, welcoming visitors during regular Museum hours. That same weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, the Museum honors Memorial Day by offering free admission to veterans.
