20th Annual Cowgirl Up!

In 2005, Desert Caballeros Western Museum embraced a revolutionary idea: an annual exhibition showcasing the brightest contemporary female artists working in the Western genre. In the male-dominated world of Western Art, Cowgirl Up! turned the spotlight squarely on women’s voices and perspectives, serving up a new, deeper understanding of the American West. Over a decade later, CU! remains one of the major national events for Western women artists.

The Art of Leather with saddle maker Carson Thomas
🤠✨ Join us on Thursday, March 27, at 11 a.m. for a special lecture: “The Art of Leather” with legendary saddle maker, Carson Thomas (second generation saddle maker, author, artist, auctioneer). Carson is currently residing in Northeast Wyoming and is dedicated to promoting the American West and saddle making throughout the US, Indonesia and Europe. Carson will be covering the evolution, history and construction of saddles of the American West in both full size and 1/2 scale. Some fine examples of his 1/2 scale saddles will be on display during the lecture. He promises that his talk will be “upbeat, informative, fun and educational.”
Cowgirl Up! Opening Weekend
Opening Weekend Package Ticket to attend ALL opening weekend events, including: exhibition previews, silent auctions, lecture, bar, quick draw breakfast and quick draw live auction. Tickets are $320 per person; good from March 28 through March 30. Events will be held on the Museum Campus. The big tent will be in front of the Main Museum at 21 N Frontier Street in Wickenburg.
