Shawn Cameron

Arizona

Shawn began her professional art career over 30 years ago. With oil on canvas she shares the heritage of the contemporary western rancher and cowboy that’s been her family’s world for over 140 years in Arizona and continues today into the 5th generation. Resource material is gathered on the family’s ranch, and other ranches, which becomes references for drawing and redrawing as she creates her canvas compositions. Although mentored by several professional artists, she credits Bill Owen CAA for assistance in understanding color as well as answering her unending questions in so many areas. Shawn feels blessed by her God given gift but continues improving her skills.

Her art has been featured in numerous magazines and graced covers such as Western Horseman, Western Art Collector and American Cowboy. She has participated in museum art shows such as “Prix de West” at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, “Night of Artists” at the Briscoe Museum of Western Art, the C.M. Russell Auction at the C.M. Russell Museum, “Cowgirl Up!” at the Desert Caballeros Museum and various shows at the Phippen Museum. Recent honors include the 2020 “Cowgirl Up!” Museum Purchase Award at the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, AZ and the 2022 Steel Dust Award for Best of Show at “America’s Horse in Art” at the American Quarter Horse Museum, Amarillo, TX.
