A traditional oil painter, Heather Burton holds a BFA in design from Syracuse and an MFA in painting and illustration from the Academy of Art University. Combining her love of painting with her love of horses, she excels at painting horses in motion. She painted thoroughbreds at Saratoga. After moving to Maui, she transitioned to painting polo ponies.
“I am in constant awe of the beauty of our world and those living in it. Connecting to nature and capturing the moments that inspire me is what I strive to share in my paintings. Whether a landscape, still life, figure, or animal I want to express the emotional response that stirs in me, hopefully evoking a personal response in the viewer.”
In 2014, after living in New York, North Carolina, California, and Hawaii, Heather met her husband, a Colorado artist, and then moved with him to northern Colorado. “I love being where beautiful landscapes, horses, and wildlife are abundant sources of inspiration. My work focuses on my love of horses, children, animals, and the outdoors; working alongside my husband and watching my two beautiful children grow are constant sources of inspiration. There is no better way to spend the day than on horseback, hiking in the wilderness, and playing with my family. I am always inspired by doing the things that I love, and I take those moments into the studio.”
