Shawn captures moments in the lives of those who live and work on ranches today.
Hers was a world apart. From a young age she absorbed life around her filled with talk of cattle, weather, the smell of horse sweat and leather, the sound of hooves before dawn, the weariness of long days…and sense of purpose. Problems presented were solved and lessons learned. So… it had been for generations and remains still. With no memory of beginning she continues to record and preserve ranch life as it unfolds, through paint and canvas. God gave her a gift of observation to capture the beauty of fleeting moments that are re-lived by the viewer. They provide a window into a world she reveres. Her subjects are real and their story is true.
Shawn has participated in numerous exhibitions. They include the Prix de West and Small Works Great Wonders at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Great American Miniatures at Settlers West Gallery, Tucson, Arizona; and Night of Artists at Briscoe Museum, San Antonio, Texas. She was honored in 2008 as the co-featured artist at the C. M. Russell Auction and Exhibitors’ Show in Great Falls, Montana. Shawn was a founding member of Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona where, in 2007, she received the “Artists’ Choice Award,” and in 2015 and 2016, the “Governor’s Choice Award.”
She is represented by Trailside Galleries in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and McLarry Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
