Teri Sweeney

Nevada

Teri Sweeney paints the textures of nature in oils and watercolors. Living in the Carson Valley, on the Eastern slope of the Sierra near Lake Tahoe, she is able to find a variety of subject matter to use as references for her paintings within a few minutes’ drive from her home. Mountains, waterfalls, lakes, and local ranches are all easily accessible year-round. Although mountain scenery is a major source for her work, frequent visits to family in Arizona also supply her with desert scenes which become another common subject matter in her paintings; as well as the wildlife, livestock and cowboys/cowgirls that seem to wander in and out of her reference photos.

Originally from Arizona, Teri worked as an Interior Designer, owning and operating her own design studio while perfecting techniques in watercolor in her spare time that would define her style. After moving to Gardnerville, Nevada, she began painting full time and expanded her choice of mediums from exclusively watercolors to also working in oils. Having the ability to work in both mediums, she is now able to choose the one best suited for her vision of each prospective painting.

Teri’s art has been accepted into the Western Masters Show and Sale and the Russell Auction in Great Falls, MO; The San Dimas Festival of the Arts in San Dimas, CA; The Phippen Show in Prescott, AZ; and the Settlers West Miniature and the Mountain Oyster Club Shows in Tucson, AZ. Her work has been in galleries in South Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes, CA; Tucson, AZ; Kauai, HI; and Genoa, NV.
