Karen Petrovich

Powell, WY and Cody, WY

Karen has lived in Cody, Wyoming for 30 year and spent 10 years in Arizona. She recently moved back to Wyoming. During her years in Wyoming. She has worked on ranches, hunting camps and has spent eleven years with the U.S. Forest Service as a back-country mounted ranger in law enforcement.

Karen’s art career started in 2003, and she credits artist Mike Poulsen of Cody for getting her to continue with it. She paints with oils and pastels. Karen is also an accomplished plein air artist and a few years ago, while painting at the Moab Plein Air event, she decided to try painting with a palette knife. Liking it so much she has been painting with it ever since.

Karen has studied with William Scott Jennings, Skip Whitcomb, Phil Starke and the late Joe Abbrescia. She is a member of the Women Artist Of The West, Oil Painters of America and the American Plains Artists. She is represented by The Gallery at Round Top, Round Top, Texas and 60 West Gallery, Wickenburg, Arizona.
